About the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference
Q: What is a virtual conference?
A: A virtual conference is an online event hosted in a 3D virtual environment. You will be able to log in online to remotely attend 30+ education sessions, visit an exhibit hall, and network with fellow attendees. It’s just like an in-person conference, but you attend via your computer or smart device from anywhere!
Q: Why is ADHA having a virtual conference?
A: Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, ADHA had to make the difficult decision to cancel the in-person ADHA 2020 Annual Conference. This was a big disappointment for all of us, but the health and safety of our community had to come first. Due to this cancellation, we decided to host a virtual event to bring another kind of high-quality CE experience to all dental hygienists right now, wherever they are.
Q: What days will the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference take place?
A: Friday, June 26 – Sunday, June 28
Q What if my schedule does not allow me to join online for those days?
A: You are in luck. Your registration for the virtual conference comes with access to sessions for 60 days after the conference is over. So, you can attend at your convenience until August 28, 2020.
Q: Will I be able connect with other dental hygienists at the virtual conference?
A: Yes! The ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference features live chat rooms where you can connect with other attendees from across the country.
Q: How do I access the virtual conference?
A: Start by registering for the event. The day before the event begins, you’ll receive an email to that address with a link to access the 3D virtual platform. You’ll just click to enter, check it out and head to the exhibit hall or your first session!

Q: How do I register for the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference?
Q: How much is it to attend?
A: The ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference is designed to be a cost-effective experience for all budgets! The full three-day conference is $150 for ADHA members, and single-day rates are also available.
Q: I already registered for the in-person conference in New Orleans. I want to attend the virtual conference, what should I do?
A: Great! It’s easy. You will receive an email on Wednesday, April 29th asking if you’d like to transfer your in-person registration fee to the virtual option. YES! Your registration will be completed, and a refund will be issued for the difference, about 50%, of your in-person registration fee. You will receive the refund within 90 days.
Q: I already registered for the in-person conference in New Orleans, but I do not want to attend the virtual conference, what should I do?
A: We are sad to miss you. You will receive an email on Wednesday, April 29th asking if you’d like to transfer your in-person registration fee to the virtual option. Just reply no, and a full refund of your ADHA 2020 Annual Conference registration fee will be refunded within 90 days. You also have the option to apply your registration to next year’s in-person Annual Conference in Phoenix, AZ, June 18-20, 2021.
Q: I already registered for the in-person conference in New Orleans. What happens if I don’t reply to your email asking me about attending the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference?
A: The deadline to decide will be Friday, May 8th. If we do not hear back from you by then, ADHA will automatically register you for the virtual conference and process your partial refund.
Q: Is there a deadline to register for the virtual conference?
A: The last day you can register for the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference is Friday, June 19th
Q: How do I receive a refund if I registered for the in-person Annual Conference, but do not want to do the virtual conference?
A: You will receive an email asking if you’d like to transfer your registration to the virtual conference. You also have the option to apply your registration to next year’s in-person Annual Conference in Phoenix, AZ, June 18-20, 2021. If you choose, simply reply that you’d like a full refund, and your Annual Conference registration fee will be returned to you.
Q: How long will it take for me get a refund?
A: Refunds will be issued within 90 days.
Q: I cancelled my registration before the virtual conference was announced. Will I receive an additional refund?
A: If you cancelled your registration for the Annual Conference prior to its cancellation, your refund after processing fee was/is being issued. If you’d like to attend the virtual conference, please process a new event registration.
Q: What about my existing hotel reservation?
A: If you booked through ADHA, your hotel reservations have been cancelled and a refund request submitted on your behalf, and applicable Housing deposits will be refunded within 90 days. There is no further action required on your part. *Please note that if you booked your hotel reservation on your own you will need to contact the hotel directly.
Q: Will I receive a refund for my purchased President’s Dinner ticket?
A: Yes, if you have already purchased a ticket for the President’s Dinner, ADHA will issue you a full refund for the ticket. Please allow 90 days to process this refund.
Q: Will I receive a refund for my guest pass?
A: Yes, if you purchased a guest pass ADHA will cancel the guest’s registration and issue a full refund. Please allow 90 days to process this refund.
Q: How many continuing education credits can I receive if I attend the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference?
A: You can receive up to 21 CEs! That is a pretty sweet deal right from home over a weekend!
Q: Will it be the same session lineup as the in-person Annual Conference?
A: Not quite. We couldn’t transition ALL the sessions to the virtual platform. Hands-on clinical classes, for example just don’t work. We will, however, have an awesome lineup of 30+ sessions. The session schedule is in progress and will be published the first week in May.
Q: Will the sessions I signed up for the Annual Conference transfer over?
A: Your in-person Annual Conference session schedule will not transfer over, but not to worry. There is no capacity for the sessions, so you can choose to attend those that interest you without pre-registration.
Q: Will the speakers be streaming live?
A: Many sessions will be pre-recorded and be presented in their allotted time. Approximately ten sessions will be live stream where you will see, hear and can interact in real-time with the speakers for question/answer. The full CE schedule is anticipated to be released the first week in May. With your registration, you can access all sessions for 60 days after the conference ends.
Q: Will I be able to earn CEs for live sessions?
A: There will be 10 live sessions (total of up to 10.5 live/interactive CE credit hours) where the speaker will be streamed live and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. A number of states are accepting that format as live CE credit. You can check with your state dental board on what they are accepting for live CE during this time.
Q: I’m used to seeing products, services and cool people in the exhibit hall. What about that?
A: The 3D virtual environment offers a cool way for exhibitors to connect with attendees. You can visit virtual booths to see what is offered, talk with sales representatives and even set up one-on-one meetings.
Q: How will I be able to obtain my statement of credit?
A: After the ADHA 2020 Virtual Conference is over, an email will be sent with a link to the evaluation website. Only those that are eligible to receive continuing education will be able to redeem a certificate.
House of Delegates Business Meeting
Q: Will there still be a House of Delegates?
A: Yes, the House of Delegates meeting will be hosted virtually from Saturday, June 13 – Sunday, June 14.
